In trying to improve my life one of the things I have struggled with is sugar addiction. At first I thought that I was one of those people who just happen to have a sweet tooth and was unconcerned. Things changed when I found out that my sweet tooth was compromising my health. It started with an outbreak of what I thought was eczema on my skin but turned out to be related to a candida overgrowth. Suddenly I needed to stop eating those chocolate bars and cakes that I loved so much. That's when I found myself in a battle for my life. I found out that there was a vicious cycle, the candida caused sugar cravings and in turn eating sugar fuels the growth of the candida. I used all of my willpower to cut out sugar from my life. I would go for months without any chocolate bars, the longest was three months of total abstinence.
Then things started becoming weird. People I know and even strangers on the street started offering me sweets. Since they were offering me those sweets out of the kindness of their hearts I felt I couldn't refuse them without hurting their feelings. I would take them and shove them in my bag. Then I had a dilemma. I could not offer those sweets to the kids in my life knowing the dangers to their health and I still felt bad about throwing something that was given in kindness away. But I was still full of resolve. At one point I had packets of sweets I had not bought in my bag. Then things got even stranger. I found myself in danger of being arrested for shoplifting sweets. I would walk into a store, deliberately fight the urge to buy anything sweet, then as I was walking out the door with my groceries the urge to grab sweets from those kiosks on the way out would be overwhelming. It would have been strange because after the arrest they would have found that I had the money to buy the sweets I stole.
I read a book called The Yeast Syndrome (John P.Trowbridge, Morton Walker) and I found out that the yeast in the body affects brain chemistry, that's how it controls your behavior. I would swear it does more than that (maybe it also controls the behavior of the people around you so that they give you sweets)!
I was losing the battle with sugar cravings (or the candida). I would find myself bingeing on chocolate bars. After those binges I started having trouble breathing. The book I was reading was saying the candida can spread all over the body and start invading organs. There were days I found myself lying in bed in pain unable to breath wondering if I had just killed myself! I decided I needed hypnosis to make me stop because I could not do it by myself. Going to a hypnotherapist turned out to be expensive but I felt I had no choice. I was still looking for a hypnotherapist locally when I found out about a site belonging to Steve G. Jones called betterlivingwithhypnosis which sells hypnosis audios for everything, including sugar cravings. I signed up for the newsletter thinking I would go back later because I wasn't sure about the whole thing. A few weeks later I received an email that said he was having a sale and you can download a tape for 65c so I decided to try it with sugar addiction. However when I got there I went a little crazy and ended up buying 10 audios for about $7. That was before he hypnotised me!
I have been listening to the tape for two weeks now. I don't know if it's working but all I can say is that it was worth every cent I paid. The relaxation part itself (which is over 20 minutes) is worth the money. I did not know that being hypnotised was so enjoyable. I was worried that I would get bored listening to the same tape everyday (you are supposed to listen to the tape continuously for at least three weeks) but instead I look forward to it. One word I can use to describe the experience is "thrilling".
In the following days I found myself feeling nauseous quite often. I was beginning to wonder if maybe I was getting sick or something. One day after lunch I was feeling nauseous again then it hit me, I had just eaten a jam doughnut for lunch. . During the hypnosis part of the tape I visualised something truly disgusting to connect with sugar. Every time I ate something with sugar I've been feeling nauseous without even being aware of it. I hope that must mean I have been successfully hypnotised. My life may depend on it.

Digeus System Optimizer Giveaway
I don't know much about computers. All I know is how to do word processing and browse the net. When once in a while my computer crashes I am seriously out of my depth. I can even feel a crash coming once I start getting those "Program Not Responding" messages. It got to a point that I even have my own personal computer technician, the same way you have your own GP or dentist.
My technician is a very nice guy and is worth every cent I spend on him. In fact he is such a nice guy that instead of just fixing my computer he tries to teach me to do it myself. He's been telling me, "You need to defragment", or, "You need to clean up all those unused programs that are taking up space. That's why your computer is slowing down." I would still look at him with a blank expression when he said that. I had not realized that in order to use a computer I needed to take a technical course.
It's true that I am getting tired of having to cart my computer to him almost every month only to watch him fix it in 5 minutes and then be told that I could have done the same.
So when I heard about a program called Digeus System Optimizer 8.2 I felt like this is an answer to my prayer. Now instead of taking a course on how to fix my computer problems here is a program that will do that for me. All I will have to do is point a mouse and click. The program will defragment for me, clean up the registry ( whatever that is) and do a whole lot of other things I do not understand.
For those who know about these things here is a partial list of things the program has:
When I first ran the Optimization Wizard the Registry Scan found1243 invalid files and 295 junk files. The program told me I needed to change my CRT Display Refresh rate? from 60 Hz to 85 Hz as it was harming my eyesight. I had no idea!
Anyway if you are interested check it out at:
http://digeus.com/products/systemoptimizer/system-optimizer.html
By the way, if anyone is interested in getting the program for free they can do so by getting a free trial and then writing a review in a blog/ facebook/ twitter or forum. To find out more about this giveaway offer contact alise.johnson@digeus.com

Kinesiology and The 419 Scam
I just had to write about this. It's something that has been happening to me in the past 2 weeks. I was contacted by a woman who said she saw my profile somewhere and wanted to be friends. I have this thing about not turning down an offer of friendship so I replied. She wrote me back and sent a picture of herself. All this time I felt bad because deep down I wasn't interested in being friends with her. At least that's what I thought. She told me she was a refugee from Liberia now residing in a camp in Senegal and her parents were both murdered during the war in Liberia. I consider myself to be a compassionate person so when this story did not elicit any pity or compassion from me I was disturbed. Disturbed by my lack of compassion, that is. I still wrote back because I felt obligated to be nice. I waited for the excitement of having a new friend to come but still, every time I checked my emails and hers was there I got this sinking feeling . The third email came and that's when I knew that this was a scam. She told me her parents left her money and she needed my help to access those funds. Finally the excitement came!
I happened to be reading the book Power vs Force by David R. Hawkins. The book is about using muscle testing (kinesiology) to detect the truth. The truth makes our muscles go strong and lies make our muscles go weak. So if someone pushes gently down on your outstretched arm while you are exposed to the truth your arm will stay strong and won't go down. If however they push down on your arm while you are exposed to a lie, your muscles will go weak and your arm will fall down.
I did not need to have someone pushing down on arm however for this to work. That is what got me so excited. You see, I finally got it. The truth increases your energy so your muscles become strong and you get that excited feeling. Lies on the other hand lower your energy so muscles go weak and you get that sinking feeling. So if I have been paying attention to my feelings I would have known instantly whether what I was being told was a truth or a lie. Most of us constantly ignore what our feelings are trying to tell us, which is a pity because it turns out we have a built-in scam detector that God (or nature if you wish) provided us with!

Find Your Passion
It is important to indulge your passions. For me currently it's watching musicals. This is a passion I share with my daughter and niece and whether it's Hairspray, The Blues Brothers or Jesus Christ Superstar we make quite a spectacle of ourselves. This baffles members of our family who believe that movies must be watched, not sung.
Indulging your passion increases your joy and according to the Law of Attraction, "like attracts like". When you feel joy you will attract more opportunities to feel joy. That is why, "it never rains but pours". Bad things tend to follow each other in succession. When something happens to you that makes you feel bad, those bad feelings will attract more events that make you continue to feel bad. The same applies to good things (think of the lucky streak). As Jesus taught, (Matthew 13:12, Luke 8:18) you get more of what you already have. If you have joy you get more joy etc.
So indulge your passion as long as your passion does not harm you, other people, animals or the planet because the Law of Karma says "You get what you give out". So if you harm others harm will come to you.

Eating On Time
As part of my 2010 effort to improve my life I have decided to simplify my life by cut out all the non-essential stuff. The first area I have discovered I need to cut down on is food. I found out that I eat too much and most of the time the eating is unnecessary. It is just from habit or I am eating because it is "time to eat". I don't remember when the last time I ate because I was hungry was.
Nowadays people eat on schedule. They eat because it is time for lunch or for dinner. Most of the food we eat is unnecessary and unneeded and ends up as waste. I know I would save a lot of money if I ate only when I was hungry.
Recently my daughter, my niece and I decided to start what we called "The One Spoon Club". We made it known that whoever dishes up has dish up one spoon carbs for us. The rest should be veggies. So far my niece seems to be dropping out but I'm hoping to stick to the plan for the rest of the year.

New year resolutions
It's the beginning of the year and people are once again making New Year resolutions. Years ago I decided to stop making new year resolutions mainly because it seemed to be the hip thing to do, with magazines, newspapers, radio shows all going on about them. I also stopped partly because I never stuck to them. This year however I find myself thinking more about making new year resolutions. I know I may not achieve them but I think of them as things to steer for, like a compass direction. These are things that I want to hold firmly in my mind for the year. So as long as I am moving in the general direction of my resolutions I will feel I have not failed. So here are my resolutions for 2010:
1. I resolve to lose weight of course. Mainly to improve my health and my energy. Looking good will be the bonus.
2.I resolve to focus more on things that bring me joy or bring joy to another person. So when I am stuck in a situation I am not enjoying I intend to ask myself if the situation is at least bringing joy to someone else. If not then I will consider removing myself from it.
3.I resolve to be a less judgemental person. I need to be more accepting of people who think differently from me and who I consider to be wrong in what they do. In the past I was intolerant of such people and I did not want them in my life. If they happened to land in my life I was quick to reject them without them knowing why. I told myself they were just not my kind of people.
4. I resolve to try ( because it's extremely hard) not to take sides in conflict situations. Instead I will try and understand both sides. The Israeli-Palestine conflict is a good way to start for me so I would really appreciate it if people on both sides of the conflict could help me understand what is really going there. Especially the people who are on the extremes on both sides. As things stand now I have a side that I definitely support but I want to move away from that and listen to the other side too. I want to know where the positions people hold come from. What they went through and what they still go through every day. If you want to help me contact me at lnombuyiselo@yahoo.com
Have a happy, peaceful, prosperous 2010 everybody.

Words Of Wisdom - How To Live A Good Life
Here are a few pearls of wisdom from the book of Proverbs in the Old Testament:
ON LIVING IN PEACE
SOURCE: GOOD NEWS BIBLE
I know we all think we know these things but how many of us actually apply them in our everyday lives. I know from myself, because as simply as these instructions seem, I have not managed to put many of them in practice in my life. For me now they are still wonderful ideals that I aspire to. It surprised me to find some of these ideas in the Bible because I have been reading about them in so-called New Age books. For example the idea that your thoughts determine what is going to happen in your life through the Law of Attraction. To me this proves that these ideas are eternal Truths that have been discovered over and over again by people in many periods of our history.
ON LIVING IN PEACE
- Hate stirs up trouble, but love overlooks all offenses. (Proverbs 10:12)
- You do yourself a favour when you are kind. If you are cruel, you only hurt yourself. (Proverbs 11:17)
- When a fool is annoyed, he quickly lets it be known. Sensible people will ignore an insult. (Proverbs 12:16)
- A gentle answer quietens anger, but a harsh one stirs it up. (Proverbs 15:1)
- Hot tempers cause arguments, but patience brings peace. (Proverbs 15:18)
- If you are sensible, you will control your temper. When someone wrongs you, it's a great virtue to ignore it. (Proverbs 19:11)
- Any fool can starts arguments; the honourable thing is to stay out of them. (Proverbs 20:3)
- Robbery always claims the life of the robber- this is what happens to anyone who lives by violence. (Proverbs 1:19)
- Peace of mind makes the body healthy, but jealousy is like a cancer. (Proverbs 14:30)
- Being cheerful keeps you healthy. It is slow death to be gloomy all the time. (Proverbs 17:22)
- Kind words are like honey - sweet to the taste and good for your health. (Proverbs 16:24)
- Your will to live can sustain you when you are sick, but if you lose it, your last hope is gone (Proverbs 18:14)
- Keep God's laws and you will live longer; if you ignore them, you will die. (Proverbs 19:16)
- Some people spend their money freely and still grow richer. Others are cautious and yet grow poorer (Proverbs 11:24)
- Be generous, and you will be prosperous. Help others, and you will be helped. (Proverbs 11:25)
- If you are lazy, you will never get what you are after, but if you work hard, you will get a fortune. (Proverbs 12:27)
- Unused fields could yield plenty of food for the poor, but unjust people keep them from being farmed. (Proverbs 13:23)
- When you give to the poor, it is like lending to the Lord, and the Lord will pay you back. (Proverbs 19:17)
- Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts. (Proverbs 4: 23)
- If you want people to like you, forgive them when they wrong you. Remembering wrongs can break up friendship. (Proverb 17:9)
- Listen before you answer. If you don't you are being stupid and insulting. (Proverbs 18:13)
- Intelligent people are always eager and ready to learn. (Proverbs 18:15)
- You will have to live with the consequences of everything you say. (Proverb 18:20)
- What you say can preserve life or destroy it; so you must accept the consequences of your words (Proverbs 18:21)
- Discipline your children while they are young enough to learn. If you don't, you are helping them destroy themselves. (Proverbs 19:18)
- Good people take care of their animals, but wicked people are cruel to theirs. (Proverbs 12:10)
- Drinking too much makes you loud and foolish. It's stupid to get drunk. (Proverbs 20:1)
